On September 21, 2021, the National Institute of Economic Research and the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences signed a cooperation agreement with the Institute for Market Problems, Economic and Environmental Studies.

Memorandum signing ceremony in Ukraine, st. Odessa was attended by the Director of the Institute, Assoc. Professor Badri Gechbaia. Badri Gechbaia introduced the history, development, problems and perspectives of the Institute to the scientific community, spoke about the challenges facing the economic system of Georgia. He also introduced the current programs of the Institute, information about current and planned research.

The Director of the Institute, Academician Boris Burkinski, and the Academic Secretary of the Institute, Professor Nina Khumarova, were awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of the National Institute of Economic Research.
